(FULL) Nature Nights: Bat Walk and Moths

May 20 at 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

This event is popular and has filled up to capacity!  We hope you’ll join us for another River Days activity.

Please join Kristofer Gonzalez, Natalie Borchardt and Hector Valtierra for an evening adventure to listen and look for bats and moths as we walk along the river.  We will learn about bats and monitor their echolocation calls using bioacoustics.  We will also set up a UV light to attract and observe moths. Mr. Valtierra is a microbiology and general biology professor at San Diego community colleges.  He is an avid iNaturalist user and wildlife photographer. Sign up early, space is limited and our Nature Nights events fill up quickly!

Event Preparation:

  • Family-friendly (all ages)
  • Bring your own reusable water bottle
  • There are no restrooms available at this event
  • Participating in this event will include walking on uneven terrain and/or some stooping and bending
  • Bring a headlamp or flashlight
