SUMMARY:Bird Walk at Famosa Slough
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Friends of Famosa Slough \nThis bird walk is especially good for beginners\, who will be able to learn from experts while exploring a world-class birding area near the San Diego River estuary at Famosa Slough.  Watch for resident and migrating species\, and enjoy a guided interpretive walk along trails at the slough. Guides from the Friends of Famosa Slough anticipate seeing many species of birds\, native plants\, some interesting insects\, and maybe even some Fiddler Crabs! \nBring binoculars if you have them! Having the free iNaturalist app\,  Merlin app and/or a bird identification program on your phone can be helpful.  Parking is available along West Point Loma Blvd.  Meet at 4285 West Point Loma Boulevard. \nRSVP at info@famosaslough.org \nEvent Preparation: \n\nClosed-toe shoes required\nSun protection (hat\, sunscreen\, sunglasses) recommended\nBring your own reusable water bottle\nParticipating in this event will include walking on uneven terrain and/or some stopping and bending

DESCRIPTION:Join the Friends of Famosa Slough for a rewarding day of conservation! \nEnjoy a wonderful morning at this stunning wetlands preserve and help remove trash\, clear invasive plants\, maintain trails\, and plant native species. As a designated California Marine Conservation Area\, Famosa Slough is a vital habitat estuarine teeming with life! Your efforts will help protect native vegetation\, reduce fire and flood risks\, and boost the health of this ecological hotspot.  \n All levels of skills and families are welcome.  Bring a water bottle\, sunscreen\, and work clothes.  We provide water and sunscreen on-site as well. \nA quick tip: if you install the iNaturalist app on your phone before the event\, you can use it to identify plants or animals that you find interesting!\n \n\nFamily Friendly (ages 12 and above)\nPark on either side of West Point Loma Boulevard.\nMeet along W. Pt. Loma Blvd about 200 feet east of the corner of Famosa Blvd. and W. Pt.
