May 11, 2019 at 10:00 am - 2:00 pmFree
DUE TO THUNDERSTORMS, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL 6/1. PLEASE CONTACT VOLUNTEER@SANDIEGORIVER FOR MORE INFORMATION.
Pack up the car and head just north of Julian for an easy hike to a secluded picnic next to the alpine ponds at Eagle Peak Ranch.
Eagle Peak Ranch is a 541-acre preserve of the San Diego River Park Foundation and includes a fun 2-mile round trip hike on the Pond Loop and Canyon Bridge trail. The hike itself is easy, and takes you through green hillsides, oak forest, wetlands, and eventually ends at a beautiful canyon overlook. Families will have the opportunity to help real-life scientists by participating in an app-based biological survey along the way! We’ll also collect acorns along the way for our native plant nursery.
Please wear sturdy hiking shoes and sun protection. Bring water, a picnic blanket, and lunch for your group.
Community service hours can be verified for this event (includes driving time).
This event is suitable for adults and children ages 8+.
