SUMMARY:Kayak Clean-Up: River Days Clean-Up in Mission Valley
DESCRIPTION:**Please read carefully!** \nTo sign-up for the kayak clean-up\, please email rachel@sandiegoriver.org.  \n  \n\nParticipants must bring their own kayak. You must be 12 years or older to participate in the kayak clean-up\, but anybody under 16 will need to be in a tandem kayak with a parent. \nEvent information and location details will be sent to you after signing up with Rachel. \n\nEach year\, San Diego River Park Foundation volunteers remove more than 200\,000 pounds of trash from our River. Without our amazing volunteers\, this trash would be left to pollute native animal habitats\, create unsightly piles in our parks and public spaces\, leach contaminants into the water\, and could be washed out into our ocean and beaches! This event is a crucial event as it’s our final attempt to remove trash from the river before rainy season begins. This effort is vital to prevent the debris from reaching and polluting our oceans. We need all the help we can get! As we like to say\, many hands make light work. \nThis event is a unique experience to kayak in the San Diego Riverbed\, where it generally is not allowed! We get special permission from the City of San Diego and work in tandem with bird watchers\, riverbed rangers\, and other staff to ensure this event has a minimal impact on the local wildlife. \nPark & Meet: The meeting location is NEAR the address listed. The exact meeting location will be at Tesla charging stations in Fashion Valley Mall. Please park in the empty spots just south of the chargers.
