SUMMARY:Silverwood Tributaries and Riparian Habitat Exploration
DESCRIPTION:The oak-shaded tributaries of the San Diego River are of great ecological importance to the river’s watershed. Join Silverwood’s Resident Naturalist Phil Lambert to learn all about these special places. (Even the smallest streams are home to everything from little tree frogs to Great Horned Owls!) A guided nature tour will be offered at 10 a.m. \n\n\nAdditional Notes:\n\n\nThis is an easy walk covering a distance of up to .25 miles. Please wear sturdy hiking shoes. Bring sun protection and at least 12 oz. of water.\n\nGuests are welcome to stick around and explore Silverwood at their own pace\, post the guided tour! (Silverwood is open Sundays 9 am to 4 pm.)\n\nDon’t forget to pack a bag of lunch for the picnic area after!\n\n\nNo pets\, please. Adults and children welcome; stroller-friendly \nThis hike will be led by Laurel Kelly\, site Resident Manager is Phil Lambert. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n

This piece of property is typically closed to the public but will be open from 9 am to 3 pm. \nIf you are interested\, two engaging events await those eager to delve deeper into nature’s wonders: a Bioblitz from 9 am to 12 pm\, where volunteers will have the opportunity to explore and document various species\, followed by a guided experience where we discuss our wildlife camera program from 12 pm to 2 pm. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a nature enthusiast\, these events promise an enriching experience amidst the captivating landscapes of Eagle Peak Ranch. However\, if you wish to hike around the ranch on your own\, you are more than welcome to do so between 9 am to 3 pm. \nAdditional Notes: \nWe kindly request that you plan on leaving at 3 pm\, as the gates will close at that time. \nThere are no facilities at Eagle Peak Ranch\, this location is entirely outdoors so please plan appropriately. \nWheelchair-accessible locations available \nIf you sign up here\, please do NOT sign up on the San Diego River Park Foundations Event calendar! \n \n

With trails suitable for all skill levels\, participants will revel in the breathtaking views of San Diego’s watershed and encounter the region’s unique biodiversity firsthand. This piece of property usually closed to the public\, will be open from 9 am to 4 pm for this special occasion. \nFor those who wish to delve deeper into the ranch’s history and biology\, guided hikes will be available with program staff. The first will depart at 10 am\, and another at 1 pm. These hikes offer a unique opportunity to learn about the rich heritage and ecological significance of this remarkable property while exploring its natural wonders. \nThe first guided hike will depart at 10 am from the horse coral and will head towards Horizon Rock\, continuing along the pond loop towards the Bridge to Nowhere. This 2.5-mile hike is rated easy to moderate. \nThe second guided hike will depart at 1 pm from the horse corral and will follow the Homestead Trail\, providing participants with insights into the history of an old homestead. This 1.5-mile hike is rated moderate and includes a small section of strenuous steep trail. \nAdditional Notes: \nWe kindly request that all guests plan on leaving by 4 pm\, as the gates will close promptly at that time. \nFamily Friendly event with wheelchair accessibility. \nIf you sign up here\, please do NOT sign up on the San Diego River Park Foundations Event calendar!
