DESCRIPTION:Presented by the San Diego Fly Fishers \nJoin the San Diego Fly Fishers (SDFF) for a free fly casting clinic at Lake Murray!  This event is designed for beginners\, but more experienced fly fishers are always welcome to come practice\, give tips\, and learn new techniques.  The clinic begins promptly at 9 am\, so please plan to arrive a little early so you won’t miss out on any fishy details in the beginning. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a creative\, hands-on workshop at the River Center at Grant Park. During this needle-felting workshop\, you’ll create your own felted bat to take home while learning fun facts about Big Brown Bats and their vital role in keeping our river ecosystem healthy. \nParticipants will also have the opportunity to take their new Bat Buddy on a guided Bat Walk\, where you’ll learn how bats support the health of the San Diego River and surrounding communities. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an exciting evening adventure along the river as we listen and look for bats. During this guided walk\, we will learn about bat behavior and use bioacoustic equipment to monitor their echolocation calls. We will also set up a UV light to attract and observe moths and other nocturnal insects. \nREGISTER HERE \nAbout Our Presenters:\nDon Endicott is a retired Navy communications research engineer who now serves as a dedicated volunteer naturalist. He is a Certified Interpretive Guide and presents multimedia programs on bats and mountain lions at parks throughout San Diego County. Don volunteers with the San Diego Natural History Museum and Project Wildlife’s Bat Team\, contributes bat echolocation recordings for research\, and co-authored 50 Best Short Hikes San Diego (Wilderness Press\, 2018). He was named Anza-Borrego Desert State Park’s Volunteer Naturalist of the Year in 2018. \nHector Valtierra is an avid moth enthusiast who will be setting up a mothing station for the event.
