Famosa Slough Work Party

Join the Friends of Famosa Slough for a rewarding day of conservation!
Enjoy a wonderful morning at this stunning wetlands preserve and help remove trash, clear invasive plants, maintain trails, and plant native species. As a designated California Marine Conservation Area, Famosa Slough is a vital habitat estuarine teeming with life! Your efforts will help protect native vegetation, reduce fire and flood risks, and boost the health of this ecological hotspot.
All levels of skills and families are welcome. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and work clothes. We provide water and sunscreen on-site as well.
A quick tip: if you install the iNaturalist app on your phone before the event, you can use it to identify plants or animals that you find interesting!
- Family Friendly (ages 12 and above)
- Park on either side of West Point Loma Boulevard.
- Meet along W. Pt. Loma Blvd about 200 feet east of the corner of Famosa Blvd. and W. Pt. Loma Blvd at 9:00 AM.

Event Preparation:
- Closed-toe shoes required
- Long pants required
- Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses) recommended
- Bring your own reusable water bottle
- Event tools and supplies will be provided
- There will be restroom facilities available at the event
- Participating in this event will include walking on uneven terrain and/or some stopping and bending
- Community service hours can be verified for volunteers at this event
